Doing my typical hours of doctorate tier research into Goldeneye history tonight, I noticed a very interesting trend. The past several years, we have not seen any untied WR until a good deal into the new year. See the following examples:
2017 - first untied, February 25 (Ace, Frigate Secret Agent 0:59)
2016 - first untied, March 8 (Karl, Streets Agent 1:11)
2015 - first untied, April 26 (Koch, Depot Agent 0:24)
2014 - first untied, February 4 (Bauer, Statue Agent 2:18)
2013 - first untied, January 6 (Ace, Aztec Agent 1:25)
Remarkably, we have not seen an untied WR in January since all the way back in 2013! 2009 and 2005 also had UWRless January months, but aside from these years, history has shown many untieds in the opening month of the year. It is clearly a trend of late to see years where we get off to a slow start, with Untied WRs being more and more delayed deeper into the calendar year.
So when do you think we will see the first Untied WR of 2018? Will the torrential storm of untieds continue after the new year? Or will it cease up completely, offering a winter drought for many? Predict now!
