Hello everyone.
It has been a long time since I have visited this site. For some reason speedrunning Goldeneye has spawned itself in my brain again. After visiting my parents who have kept the console and the games, I have painfully started to speedrun this again, only if it has been a few days. I found Ryan White on youtube and enjoyed the uploads, which drew me in a little more.
You can find me on the rankings, I think I am in the high 100's or low 200's, as Paul George. It's nothing great to look at. I started this back when I was 13, now 28, and got the first WR, Bunker Agent :18. From what I recall, speedrunning was difficult then but not terribly hard.
I am able to achieve most the times that I once obtained, but cutting the seconds down seems like chiselling away at a brick wall with a feather. Dam SA I can get my old time of 1:26, but 1:25 seems hard to achieve, even though I have gotten runs that seem quicker than that. The facility runs seem difficult now, though I remember them being easy. Bunker 2 is difficult now, though I enjoying playing that level back then, as well as silo.
Has anyone else that has been around for a long time run into this? The difficulty it is to speedrun? The controller feels strange, though it is getting easier to use. The joystick is still worn and bad. The lag in the game is terrible and so on. Does anyone do something unique or special to cope?
As of right now, this is just a hobby but i look forward to continuing it, and if times improve, maybe seriously diving into it.
