The SHITTY Strategy Compendium (TSSC)
« on: November 04, 2018, 07:11:24 am »
Ever pioneered a strategy, used it in a WR run but it turned out to be slower, more inconsistent, etc. but because you are a figurehead in the community people continue to use your strat no matter what you say about it?

I have this problem with my 4th cam trick on B2 SA (currently being used by Irie on his 0:45 attempts). The WR on Villa PA also uses a very slow route in the beginning that Boss used in previous world records only because of consistency. What are some other levels that suffer from this problem?

False. The start route on villa pa  is also used to lure more guards to make the warp easier, and make it so you need to disarm less guards while still having enough ammo to complete obj 1, and at a cost of only one second it's well worth the consistency

the defection 0:05 strat of letting go of c buttons at the end is shit, I had much more success with making the ending by pausing instead

"Henrik says to let go between roughly 5.5 and 5.7. Since I couldn't see the time on my screen very well as I was playing, I instead used a visual cue. Usually, while you're falling, you can see the buildings in the background moving along with you. It just so happens that these buildings tend to disappear from view around 5.5-5.7 on an average run, so as soon as the buildings disappear completely you can let go of the controller completely"

and this is what I did so idk what you're on about lol

1) You do not lure more guards with the start route on the current WR run.
2) Even if you did, the additional lag makes zero difference for the warp since you've generated sufficient lag to warp by that point in the level already. I repeat, ZERO difference. Hi-res has a much greater impact.
3) Ammo is hardly an issue with the previous route.
4) You do agree that it is slower yet more consistent which is exactly what I stated in my original post.

If the WR route is slow beat it with the other route then  :nesquik:

Well think about it , you have to disarm more guards to get enough ammo for the laptop to kill an extra sniper, combined with a more accurate throw which results in less obj 1 completions and generally less lag at the warp. At a time save of only 1-ish seconds or maybe even less which can be gained back through the run just taking more risks or a more Yolo ending.
I completely understand the reasoning behind this topic, but I think a better example could have been used. For example, doing the strafe changes on jungle for 2nd drone when all right strafe is cake, just that nobody really looked into it till karl played jungle.

Karl developed another setup after I showed this to him. It seems as though my throw is pretty much the current strat. JUST SAYIN :nesquik:

I also developed the S2 00A last cam nade throw that Boss used on 1:24.

... and inspired the Dam 00 open door strat.

Yeah, I'm that cool.

Well, we all know karl only uses strats that can be tied back to him so he gets credit  :nesquik:
But that's pretty cool, I didn't know about all that.
