An old guy getting back into GE
« on: April 14, 2019, 11:24:21 pm »
Got the N64 and GE when I was 11, and hadn’t done much in terms of gaming in the last 10 years. Got around to watching Goose and his Speedlore series and realized how ridiculous and fun it couldn’t be trying to improve at a game I was pretty shite at.

Started with Dam Agent as the obvious first choice and improved my time in 3 days from 1:14 to :55 with pretty good consistency.

Looking at the rankings and the legend that is Karl Jobst, it’s still a pretty trash time. However I just wanted to thank you all for keeping this game alive and kicking. Maybe I’ll get a time and some points up on the board at some point in the near future.

Cheers, all

- Michael

Hey Michael

Fellow old guy here and a veteran eliter! Good to see some new blood on the forums. Have you joined the ranks yet? 55 in three days it not too shabby. Keep it up and most of all, have some fun playing the games and watching some streams! :)

Don't forget to get that capture card when you start getting those 80 pointers ;) high quality proof is much appreciated!

Have fun and if you have any questions, send me a PM or pop by on discord and I am sure we will be able to help you!

welcome.  Don't take the game too seriously, just relax and enjoy it as you improve. I'm a fellow amateur player with only 22 pts if you want to compete with my times page. My most recent decent time.... Dam 0:54 baby! lol

Welcome! I’m in the same boat. I played GE as a kid and now and getting back into it. I turn 30 this year, so my reflexes are only going down from here. I probably won’t ever be ranked inside the top 50, but I do my best and just play the levels I find most enjoyable and avoid the grind. Now go for that dam 53!

There are a few of us dusty ass m*************s around although lately I'm relegated to my usual lurker status.    So you're not alone.   Depends on your definition of "old guy".

I'm 40.  Don't look, feel or act it but aware that from a 20something perspective I am a relic of days when pagers were cool.   I am a gamer and always have been so f it...I play games.  If that's what you enjoy doing then go for it.

That being said  - welcome and enjoy yourself.  This place is unique.  It'll be what you make it.  Kind of like dinner.
