Yeah, they cancelled school for me here in rhode island tomorrow because of cold temperatures (but no snow). I love it.

You don't care and stuff, but it's sweet...

If it gets hot enough here (something like 42 degrees celcius) than we are allowed to go home. Whee!

In my neck of the woods, we were allowed to stay home if the wind chill was -20F* or colder.  It only happened a few times when I was in elementary school (most of them were in the same week), though.

* -29C, or 244.15K

Here it's about -5 F (-20 C, 253.15 K) with a wind chill that gets as low as -40 F (-40 C, 233.15 K). This morning my hot water pipe was frozen, so we brought all these space heaters into the garage and stuff to try and thaw the pipe.

Ok, I remember when it was -40 degrees Celsius here back in 1999 I think (without wind effect).

It was cold as hell.

It happened once in my life from cold, and another time from snow.  -45 celcius and 4 feet of snow were the reasons.

We had a snow day back when I was in 6th grade. After that, we had a delay of about an hour back in senior (junior) year for freezing rain/sleet. This was because it was the first snowfall of the season, and peoeple weren't accustomed to snow yet. During Spring Break of that same year, we had an arctic chill come through most of Washington, and covered everything with 2 feet of snow, and sub zero temperatures the whole time. Had this chill dumped it's snow one day later, I would have missed school for a day. All the roads were cleaned up, and I got to walk to school in -20 conditions, yay. Apparently, CSU also got dumped on (year before I went there, ie my senior year), and they closed school for 3 days. Roofs collapsed, cars crashed, snowballs smashed (on people's faces). Since my time at CSU, we've had random winter snowfalls, but I'm still awaiting the 2 feet of snow someday on a WEEKDAY.
