New Trick for skedar ruins
« on: March 30, 2006, 03:34:00 am »
well, I was playing ruins on PA with my friend vitor miranda - greg -  (we live together), and  I was very furious because I couldnt jump the bridge place in the right time.... i had an idea when i almost reached the other side: try to press the R button in the air, so Joanna would do that little dodge, thus reaching the other edge..... and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!! its hard to believe that a normal player like me discovered that.... its very helpfull... it can low the SA time down to 1 sec and the PA time down to 2 sec.

in the next week we will upload a video in the internet....

Yeah I was sitting right next to him when he thought that. It's very easy to perform.. after a few minutes of practice you can start PR'ing ;p

We do it with right strafe, and go as far as possible to the left of the edge, and when we'r close enough, tap R. You also have (we tested it and are almost sure) to be with Unarmed to make it work.

It obviously won't be any helpful on A, but can low 1s on SA and 2s on PA (as he said). I used that trick on my recent 1:37 btw.

Are you going on the normal side first before doing this trick?  Can't you just use it by jumping to other side directly from the cliff you come from?  Nice find. :D

Excellent find! This trick will help me alot
(i've been having so much trouble with the second jump... :rolleyes    ) so, thanks!

Also in some sense it's helpful on A,
if you happen to run into very moody skedar and don't have much health left at the bridge :p

:lol  yeah join the club :p

Awesome find Ghus, Perhaps not revolutional, but it takes out one of the most annoying parts of the level which makes it incredible!

Hopefully, PD will get a little more active now.

We tried to do it the fastest way possible: only "touching" the right edge and jumping using a left strafe. Theorically it's possible, but it seems to be insanely hard. If that works, I'd guess maxes of something like 1:06, 1:23 and 1:32.

You guys could test that trick and work on some faster way of doing it, or whatever. I'm sure it has room for improvement.

Very nice find! Good thinking too:-D

If I ever play PD again i'll surely try this out.

For that suggestion of jumping straight away... I assume you've tried this: turn so that you're facing parallel to the edge before pressing R so that you get the maximum movement out of it. This might even counter-act the effort though, seeing as it takes longer to get in this position.

Good work.
