hi, ime new here and have an imortant question before i post any of my times.
i have a N64 and PD however my controlers are all stufed from over use and my liittle brother, so i now play PD on my PC wit a N64 emulater, it is perfect in every aspect to the N64 with a beete frame rate and the new briilant feature.......... the quiksave button. lets say that i am doing chicargo, stealth and am about to run in and chuk the mine on one of the doors, this is a difficult section (for me anyway) so i pres f5 before i go in, this save that point to my hard drive, lets say i stuff up and die or take way too long, if i pres f7 i get to start again from where i presed f5, saving loads time and not losing the rest of my perfect progress :D :D . i will keep doing this until that section is done perfectly and then i wil save it again for the next section.

the big question..:rolleyes
is this cheating and do my times still count?

Indeed, emulators are against the rules. Other things against the rules are: using third party controllers (turbo controllers), Gamesharks or other cheat devices, modding the N64 to make it run faster (overclocking), and using in game cheats.

yeah there are speedruns out there called tool-assisted, and that's what your runs would fall under.  you could do something cool with that at least and make a video of really good times that aren't humanely possible, and they'd post it on their site.

actually, I doubt they would put best times for single levels up. they're more about full game playthroughs, preferably on the hardest difficulty.
sexy, this

The times wouldn't be legit but however, It could be interresting to see if you can manage a perfect run on a level(PA or SA preferably) and see how close to max you can get.

I don't see how GameSharks can really affect your gameplay in some cases, such as if one runs a code that doesn't affect the level in the slightest (sideways weapons or something). However, I have no proof to say that it affects how the level is run, but I don't think anybody does (probably. I'm using inductive reasoning here).
