Perhaps someone could enlighten me as to why so many people are recently feeling urges to present humour via the *performes/requests homosexual action* method.

anyone? comb? strat dude?

You can't say that it makes the bored a better place. Perhaps we should cut it out?

On the subject of challenge 30, I'm the best player ever. Fastest one player shutout, longest one player streak (that I know of), longest 2 player streak, 2 player shutout 20-0 with one player are included in my list of achievements.

Jugador -- a harmless coincidence, I'm sure...your harping on it is what's troubling. ;-)

Sim Threat -- always eager to post a few self-aggrandizing words, eh.  You'd probably whoop up on us for this challenge, then -- you'd love that: I've been handing your s**t to you on a regular basis in here (I've still been watching that Complex LTK vid...you die several times...you die by slapper once!), and now vengeance may be yours! ;-)

Clark -- Challenge 30...now there's a match I can't stand.  lol  Actually, I'll look into it, I think octoinky gave me a link to strategies for Ch30.  Surprising, though, because in that one you're often fighting sims in a hill -- i.e. they're just buzzing around exhibiting infuriating aim, rather than moving in a straight line down a hallway or something.  A few tidbits to rekindle your interest:

I think you'll get used to this match pretty quickly; yes, in the interests of sanity, Slo-Mo is ON for this challenge.  30 min "to reflect the epic nature of all things Perfect Dark", and also to give you plenty of wiggle room for better performances, but it's dropped to 10 Min for the challenge.

Also, cloaking devices can be kind of intimidating...my basic tactic in this match is simply to always have one activated.  As tron says, they're easy enough to keep stocked simply by collecting them from the dead.

One of the neat things about this match is that you can't continually deprive the DarkSims of everything dangerous, but if you keep your focus and keep making the right moves you'll gradually open up more breathing room for you and your team.

Another is figuring out the best orders for your sims -- I've certainly gotten some positive enough effects that I think orders are a necessity, but at the same time I doubt I'm using them with much efficiency; I'm not sure about tron.  If you know a lot about sim behavior from your experiences, this may be a place where you can innovate the match and start chipping away at our scores.

Lastly, a quote from tron:

"In the space of one day, I went from marginal loss to full-on domination. These Comsim scenarios offer enormous potential for personal improvement"

And he's not even a PD fanatic and in fact has mocked me for being one ;-)  GET HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clark,

Yes, the challenge is to be played with slow-mo ON.  When I played the original GotW #2 setting--slow-mo being off--I was losing like 6-48 after 18 minutes.  At which point, I quit in disgust.  An impossible setting, to be sure.

However, with slow-mo on you get a very, very different scenario.  It's winnable!

Also, yes, turn down the time limit to 10 minutes.  Still will be a longer match, though.  But hey, think of it as more opportunity for your team to shine, rather than screw up.  I predict you'll be amazed at the positive vibe you can develop playing this scenario.  Terminating yet another unarmed Darksim, you'll think, "gee, and I'm saving my cloak reserve while I blow his brains out!  Terrific!"
Just some advice, in case you do try it.

Yes, it's truly a disgusting match.  I've held a winning score through the first two minutes with slo-mo OFF, though: A humble beginning?  Again, the idea was to give you more wiggle room, and I'll reiterate that it is the (Pseudo-)Championship Match -- the one to determine the (pseudo-)best PD multiplayer in the world.  I consider a valid part of this equation to be the player's willingness to confront even that maddening abyss of death...repeatedly...often while unarmed...

In any case, there's a decidedly Zen quality to unending slaughter at the hands of the Sims, I can assure you.

ARE YOU MAN ENOUGH.

That's the second time you've said "bored".  Go away.

Tron, Strats....

Relieving to see you guys are using Slo-Mo.  If I find time between math homework, I'll definitely have to sit down and try this.  10 minutes ain't too bad, especially on slo-mo.  Originally I thought it was just 30 minutes of merciless death courtesy invisible darksims.  Not so bad, now.

Might as well go into detail some more seeing as I'm board.

You told me to go away. Why? I'm thinking one of three things:
a) you just want to show that you don't like me
b) You don't think it's fair that i just tell people to not post in a topic where someone is trying to be meaningful, though most people have come to a seemingly correct conclusion that the person is a fa.ggot.
c) My thoughtless grammatical error conveys that i don't have a high enough intelligence to be in the same topic as you.

Seeing as you paired the statement about C with the "go away" I'll just assume it's because of C (and A).

If it's B... well. My opinion there is just as valid as anyone's. It was a fairly useful post too, because i didn't see another post for a few days. No posts in this topic = topic won't be at the top because of a post where SS tells us how bad he'd pwn karl. But then you. Don't just address tron, tell me how little you think of me as well!

Ugh... this wasn't even a coherrent post... lots of points...basically what i'm trying to say is that your post was out of line.

WJ--

"Anyway I think this belongs on some multiplayer message board.. everytime I get here in this topic I get loads to read and I can't stop myself from actually reading it"

Now why'd ya have to go and say that -- though in truth it's hard to tell if this is an argument *for* moving the topic, or against.

Come on, why move it.  I refrained from posting the last few days to illustrate that I'm not obsessed with keeping it at the top.  Do I need to go back into the whole spiel about how relevant this project is to the ideals of the Elite?  As more people contribute, they tend either to begin to respect (if not adopt) these simple ideas, or prove careless (sometimes very quickly if not immediately!) in their protests against them.  Not to make a mountain out of a molehill, but as I suggested in this topic's introductory post, it's actually a matter of intellectual honesty.

first off everyone could easily make 2 consecutive topics that reach 6+ pages (that's 600+ posts alright!, so you aren't even there yourself yet) since they can just keep posting in their own threads, I've done that once it just gets boring;)
also if you have to do it honestly so you can't make all those 600 replies yourself, then it isn't your achievement since the others had to post, yourself you would do hardly anything.

2ndly it was pretty dumb to go search the web for "ioewufspisp" when someone asks you to with the reason HE HIMSELF couldn't FIND it! Ha, everyone knows just search with google or so and if the one doesn't find it, why would you think you would?

3rdly how more clear could my post be I want this moved to the multi board since it clearly belongs there. it's all about multiplayer games even if it's meant as a substitute for what we do now we told you we will try when we want to and we don't want to know apparently and for the ones which do want to try your games they wouldn't have a problem going to the multi boards since they would know it would be there if they'd cared and they wouldn't make a problem of going out of their way to that board when it has something to offer for them. I bet this topics annoys most people on this board.

Yo Plumpy!--
::rabbit punch::

Wouter J--

Hey man, I think you're an interesting guy, but now you're getting aggressive so I'm afraid I'm gonna hafta zing ya:

"first off everyone could easily make 2 consecutive topics that reach 6+ pages (that's 600+ posts alright!, so you aren't even there yourself yet) since they can just keep posting in their own threads, I've done that once it just gets boring"

you undermine your own credibility when you say things like this, compadre.  i don't feel the need to spell out every little detail ("6+ pages, provided you yourself only post X times per day" etc) just to appease the anal retentive -- Post two topics that generate a lot of interesting discussion.  Period.  Glitch-discovery topics aside, *you* quite likely couldn't even do this Wouter; your way of thinking strikes me as too idiosyncratic.  Much less someone with as much negative energy as comebreath.

"also if you have to do it honestly so you can't make all those 600 replies yourself, then it isn't your achievement since the others had to post, yourself you would do hardly anything."

oops, you slipped up!  the whole point is that it *is* your achievement, insofar as your ideas were helping to fuel the discussion.

"2ndly it was pretty dumb to go search the web for "ioewufspisp" when someone asks you to with the reason HE HIMSELF couldn't FIND it! Ha, everyone knows just search with google or so and if the one doesn't find it, why would you think you would?"

Hey, his joke was so random and weak that curiosity took hold.  I spent the requisite 30 seconds finding pages about the song, realized how *remarkably* lame the joke was, and that was the end of it.  What you're saying hardly makes sense bro -- as usual?

"even if it's meant as a substitute for what we do now we told you we will try when we want to and we don't want to know apparently"

I'm still getting lots of hits at the site and this topic is still growing.  That activity has to come from somewhere.  I think that as I continue to supply more details and more perspectives on this project (often via the handy device of making careless naysayers look foolish) more people are realizing that it's perfectly harmless and perfectly fun.  It's *not* meant as a substitute, it's meant as a comrade to the elite.

"and for the ones which do want to try your games they wouldn't have a problem going to the multi boards since they would know it would be there if they'd cared and they wouldn't make a problem of going out of their way to that board when it has something to offer for them."

Uh-huh, but I'm still trying to actively recruit, so I have asked for some leeway with the moderators-that-be in order to get *more* people noticing.  As I offer up different modes for play, new Games of the Week to showcase different facets, I think more people will catch on.  I find it *impossible* to believe that no one here plays PD/GE because they enjoy First Person Combat -- and anyone who enjoys First Person Combat is more than likely to enjoy The Grand Experiment.

"I bet this topics annoys most people on this board."

You see what I put up with?  I have to repeat myself over and over:

"What I'm discussing is lighthearted enough that only fools would allow it to get on their nerves. "

I await your rebuttal to that.

it's funny that you respond to my posts when you don't even understand their meanings.

it doesn't get at my nerves at all if you knew me (which nobody really does) than you'd know how well I can take alot of things, if you can get on my nerves then you really accomplished something big. you really think I actually care if this topic stays here or gets moved? The only difference is that when it stays here I will need to spend more of my spare time since I read all new posts on this board, but it doesn't go any further than that, it doesn't make me want to play cs or multi or whatever.

after all, we all take the Lee-way. That guy made history, weeeeeeeeeeLeeeeeeeeee!

"you really think I actually care if this topic stays here or gets moved?"

vs.

"how more clear could my post be I want this moved to the multi board "

A very clear contradiction.

"The only difference is that when it stays here I will need to spend more of my spare time since I read all new posts on this board, but it doesn't go any further than that, it doesn't make me want to play cs or multi or whatever."

Now this *really* doesn't make sense...obviously(, obviously, *obviously*,) you could always just make an exception and not bother to read this topic.  Again, on the remote possibility that some people in here revere you and take your word as holy writ, I must request that you not post your illogical comments in this topic if you can restrain yourself, lest the beholden find themselves misguided.

Hey, if Matt sees this....

My comment was somewhat random and non-hostile.  I initially felt like teasing you for the "bored" typo twice, and threw in the "go away" bcs it seemed your were just spamming this topic a bit, and I had actually had some nice convo with SS going.  And yes, past hostilities helped faciliated the "go away".  But for the most part it was just..whimsical.  Sorry to come off as an @#%$.

Go hump a sheep strats.

And dont pick a paticularly attractive sheep, pick one with anal herpes or something. One that will give you genital disfigurement and infections and make you ashamed of your wonky mutated privates.

And then jump off a cliff

And dont pick a paticularly small cliff. A fairly high one. Maybe in a seaside resort perhaps with condoms and litter around the edge. That would be good. Make sure that at the bottom of the cliff there are many rocks of varying size yet still remain one exceedingly amazing similarity - pointyness.

And then we will all piss on your body

And not with paticulary nice piss, at that. With tah tI end with a laugh

Mwah ha ha!

Uh-huh...positively charming as usual guys.  Well, hey, my posts in there aren't even that great but check out some of tron's handiwork (he recently got a 49-23 which could in some ways be considered a top score, defeating my 63-30, as he proceeds to explain):

[tron2003]:

~~~If we compare ratios of team scores (your team score / opponent score), we obtain the following:
63/30 = 2.10; 49/23 = 2.13.
Excellent: my superiority in this match is indisputably indicated. Ha, yeah right.
Given that the posting of a 49-23 result gives me a theoretical basis for claiming a lead in this challenge--and such a magnificently slight one--I assure you (and others?) that my result is 1) not fabricated and 2) not decisive. I take it that the second point is clear.
I played this low-scoring match as you might expect: single-minded in denying the enemy any dragons. Actually, I second-guessed myself quite often about this conservativeness and thought I was attaining a second-rate result. I rarely looked at the score. It wasn't a very tidy performance either, as once I realized that, for a period of time, my sims had been left with obsolete orders.
Reservations aside, I did outdo my old 57-34. I must have gotten the shield twice, if not more. I'm beginning to acquire the strangely important skill of directing my sims to pick up dragons, via the "hold" command. I disarmed a good number during the match; I wish the game kept stats on that key event. Once, I pleased myself that I correctly timed a punch while the darksim's cloak was in its full phase. So the game could be characterized as a very tight-fisted one, the proverbial fist being tight on the dragon trigger frame. I would echo your reference to the luck factor in getting a lead. And good tips on the timed mines. I haven't truly integrated into my game mines or prox-dragons. But then again, I'm not an android. Do you recommend shooting the mines? I've noticed that you can shoot them from "out" a darksim's pitiable lil paw.
I've encountered a contradiction to a statement I made about simulants. Darksims have deliberately switched targets, from unarmed to armed opponents, i.e., me.~~~
Anyway, I think his strategizing realy makes the match sound interesting, and I say without sarcasm that I truly feel any one of you who elects himself for the task could come in and whoop up.
Lastly, I'm working on Week 7 for later today and it will be Elite-inspired so check it out and flame me some more why doncha:
WJ meant my second point that my result isn't decisive. Basically, Mr. Jansen, I was saying that although I had a claim to the lead, it wasn't authoratative, since no one had specified before the competition exactly how results would be ranked. Strats' 63-30 score has a 33-point margin of victory, while my 49-23 has a 26-point margin. So he's winning right? However, 49/23 is just slightly a better ratio than 63/30. Chalk it up to my Meyers-Briggs perceiving preference, but I'm not going to settle the matter at this point in time. Hope that helps.
Max boner,
That's "his and tron's fetish party." Use the genitive case, as "him" is an indirect object pronoun. Sheesh, the phenomenal foreigner speaks better English.
Thought I'd post some spam, since 1) some of you may not know me 2) it's the thing to do 'round here and might help me blend in and 3) it's late & I've had a few Millers.
1. "Now that's a wave of destruction that's easy on the eyes!"-- Zapp Brannigan,  _Futurama_
How come every time you try to convince fastimes specialists to play a combat simulator slow-mo challenge you get nada? OK, so maybe there is a logical explanation. But seriously I think Strats has a first-rate idea for evolving the community. Whether people here take this ship out to Comsim competition paradise, or build one of their own, I think it's a killer idea. There, I said it.
2. "Random Task! Show them what you do..."--Dr. Evil, _Austin Powers_
Getting a job blows. I'd much rather help my friend recruit a group of crack PD pros to challenge each other on ComSim settings. We don't want agents of true evil like the guy with the osamabinryan email address. We want bright and talented players, preferably with writing talent so we can discuss strats and fling insults, all in depth. You there, cool person, contemplating what I'm saying: Join me, and we can rule the galaxy as father and son!  Oops, Star Wars mix up.
3. "There ain't no good guy / There ain't no bad guy / There's only you and me / and we just disagree."
Name that artist. It's a competition!! lol
Thats the problem with foreigners, no offense elite guys, but they alsways speak in standard english. That isnt right, very few english people do. they use slang and various other parts of their dialect in speech. I am merely writing how i would say something - so pardon me for being your average englishman.
So Tron, you genital herpe, why don't you suck you mothers privates and get to @#%$ loserville!
Haha, I like it. Agent of True Evil.
Anyway, I'm sick of this. This board is for discussing world record strategies, not for some faggots to come and try to get us to play multi. WE DON'T CARE about your challenge. In my opinion, this topic is exactly the same as the other one. It should be moved as well.
I hope you two get banned, and then fall down a hole and die. Now please go away.
No, you're not...you're sullying their reputations just like everyone who has only had negative and/or illogical  statements to make in this topic.  And it's "hear hear"...
YE~~
You are hereby stripped of your Multiplayer of the Month status (told ya attitude counts), so for the rest of you it's up for grabs.  Post your best results and comments to back them up in the relevant topic below to be considered:
Hey, it's the truth...it's my decision and the decision has been made: His attitude sucks, just like so many others' here.  I am not interested in people who are full of negativity, and I'm not interested in glorifying this topic, so anyone without anything constructive to say should leave their comments out of it because it's really just a waste of their time.
I'm trying to let this topic stay subtle, it's the trashtalkers that make it seem like a nuisance.
What the hell, why not? I've got nothing better to do.
Team Red: 45
Team Yellow: 10
Team Blue: 3
My impressions: This challenge isn't too bad. It's only four minutes, which is nice. It's got some variety, and I actually found myself somewhat enjoying this scenario (good God, what did I just say?) I found that the sims tended to congregate near the two laptop locations, which is where I killed them. I'm sure there are better way to do this scenario, but meh.
Someone please beat my score. And by someone I mean Derek because he's the one telling us to play this.
And to StartStrats: Just because I played GOTW#7 and sort of enjoyed it doesn't mean I like you.
Week 8, i.e. Tournament Format #1 -- if you have access to a multiplayer buddy, try this one out and let me know how it went.
www.angelfire.com/az3/gra...otw.html#8
Thanks for trying Week 7, ST...did you try throwing out any Sentries?  The idea was that Sentries and the occasional Boost would help to max your score, but it seems like no one's competing so there's not that drive...head over to Week 2's topic, though:
pub17.ezboard.com/fthegra...ID=5.topic
(last page:  pub17.ezboard.com/fthegra...21&stop=33 )
Because that competition is getting downright grisly.
I knew it was too quiet in the elite.
