You made a good impression as far as I can tell.

There are two ways of making videos: one of them, which is preferable, is to hook up your VCR to a card you can get for your computer called a Capture Card, and use whatever capturing software came with it to make the video. The other way is to film your replayed run using a digital camera or camcorder and transfer that to your computer. As for the intricacies of editing and encoding, I can't say.
