Karl's new vids online!
« on: March 23, 2004, 10:35:00 am »
....unfortunately however, because karl is such a faggot (and my biatch) we will only be releasing one vid per 2 days.

Furthermore, the vid that is chosen to be released is to be decided by vote. There must be no less than 10 votes (not necessarily for the same vid) for a vid to released or no vid will be released for another 2 days.

It is now up to you to decide which vid Karl will make available to the general public.

List of vids that you can decide on:

25 war agent -- Online!!!
2:28 deep sea agent -- Online!!
3:02 deep sea sa
27 chicago sa
28 chicago pa -- Online!!!
35 defection sa -- Online!!!
2:10 attack ship agent
3:21 attack ship perfect agent

We are longing for some Defection ownage, since Sucram never made vids of his WRs, so I would say:

-Defection SA 0:37

I'd prefer seeing the Defection SA run....cos it takes 3 secs off the fastest vid online at the min. With war its marginal...its only one second...

I'd say 3:02 Deep Sea SA, but obviously that's not going to happen. So my vote goes for WAR! Agent 0:25.

Just because defection is 3 seconds better than the current online vid, doesn't mean it's better than war 25. War 25 is a maxed time, and the speed for it is truly insane... The max for Defeciton is probably 31... so 37 is far from insane.

25 > 37

That vid is not 25!

Look how the endscreen appears! It's 2 vids joined together:eek

Plus it says he made 4 kills. wtf? way to stuff up. You only killed 3 people, dim-threat.

Matt, it's possible to kill a Maian at the start when you boost. It happens in his 26 vid, you can see his body in the end cinema before the endscreen appears. But I think it's fishy how it misses like 2 seconds at the endscreen...

ermm.. matt.. also notice the fact that there was 2 headshots 1 limb shot? meaning only 3 shots connected, and one of the kills must have been from an explosion.

but.. next vid.. i say.. defection sa :b

chicago pa 28.6 would still be better than 35 def IMO. I vote for it... though I think i already did that or something.

FFS Can't people see that I'm joking when I say I think Karl's time is fake? OF COURSE I know that an explosion kills a maian!

Hmm. The 2-second skip in the video is very strange indeed. Adding up the shots and hits and kills works out fine - except for the mysterious fourth kill, don't know what went wrong there - and watching the mission timer gives around 23.7 for the King headshot - the maximum possible. In conclusion, it looks to be legit, but with the jump it can't be accepted for the proven ranks. Surely making a proper version wouldn't be too hard?

Unless youse finally starts acting like the 'responsible' leader he so highly regards himself as being no one will see anymore vids. Only Karl can decide when Youse has fulfilled this duty.

I just did some analysis of the War 25 video in Camtasia Studio, and here's what I came up with:

The first frame not part of the intro scene is the frame at 7.00 (last frame of intro is 6.96), meaning control is gained sometime between 0:06.97 and 0:07.00.

The timer is hard to read, especially at the end (this is attributable to the lossy compression of WMV), but one thing can be made out: In the frame starting 0:27.97, the timer changes from 20 to 21 seconds.

Shot fired at King 0:30.86
Charge shot connects 0:30.90
Timer disappears at 0:31.06

The break in the video occurs between 0:33.23 and 0:33.26, meaning a net time somewhere between 0:26.23 and 0:26.28, even assuming the gap occurred during the last frame of gameplay (there could've been even more frames between the cut and the endscene, which would extend the time even longer).

Discuss.

For NTSC, the the amount of time from last TT to end cinema is roughly 2.15 seconds.

That puts the final at 33.21, which (minus the starting 7 seconds) still wouldn't be enough for 25.

The background music was most definitely Led Zeppelin.

Also, I used a different program to analyze the vid time, and got the pretty much the exact same results (somewhere between 26.24 and 26.32).

For comparison, here's the stats on Bosshardt's 0:26 video:

First frame of gameplay: after 0:03.12, no later than 0:03.16

last shot fired: 0:27.76
shot hits: 0:27.80
Timer disappears some time between 0:27.88 and 0:27.96 (it's unclear whether it's present in the 0:27.92 frame)

Endscene starts: after 0:30.24, no later than 0:30.28

The timer was very fuzzy throughout; all I was able to detect was that the timer rolled from 21 to 22 starting in the 0:25.16 frame.

Net time lies between 0:27.09 and 0:27.15, assuming the timer keeps counting all the way to the end cinema.  Using the 2.15 estimate, the timer stop would actually be between 0:30.03 and 0:30.11 in the video, for a net between 0:26.87 and 0:26.98.  The benchmarks of Karl's run are only 0.59-0.75 seconds faster.
