honestly if you just come up with one more little timesaver you'll get 3:58. Change something about the way you're playing somewhat, you just need a little variation.

Theres really nothing else to do. Ive tried 3 boost mine strats, theres just no room to do it, you just gotta accept that theres always going to be annoying guard luck you gotta deal with, nothing you can really do.

yeah but sometimes just doing one thing different really changes the whole way you feel about the level. If you really feel like you can get 3:58 when all the luck comes together then great, keep it up. There's a feeling you get when you know you can get an untied and I'm sure you know it

Jungle A 0:52 x roughly 5 more

stupid level, every time I have a decent run going i get backed by a drone, especially after ladder warp, which backs me like 90% when I try and do it like Ilari and Rayan do, so I'm guessing that has to do with ntsc, but I guess its luck on either system. Funny, cause on SA i remember blowing myself up a lot at that drone =/.

Also one had 3 backs after Xenia lol, and just 2 GL boosts. So like 5:3 ratio overall. That was the worst 52 ever... I thought A would fail so i got careless, amazed when i saw A complete, and really annoyed since i felt i blew 51. I think I have a solid strat down, 51 doesnt seem that hard, just on NTSC its a pain more than it has to be I guess.

Going for :16?

When I went from :18 to :17 I thought I would just keep going. I racked up 60 or so :17s all but two were by my estimate mid to high. I dont think I was far enough along in my "GE development" to get it. So I came back to it about 6 months and around 25 more 17s later and got it.

But your better than I am.... so I wish you luck! The kind of luck that will give you 2 boosts on a good run so you can get it quickly!?

Train A 1:10
Train A 1:09
Train A 1:08x3
Train A 1:07
Train A 1:06
Train A 1:05(First try!)
Train A 1:04

No good locks this session..always miss 3-4 on my good runs and take ages to do them. I still find it really wierd 1:01 is untied, It seems way easier than any other GE wr set since Clemens/Rayan got to the top.

are you kidding me, it's only because you're good at train that you think that way. 1:01 is the best WR imo, or at least it's the least likely one I ever get.

I'm not good at Train, everyone else sucks at it. My skills on Train aren't really that much better than on any other level, I'm just as good at Archives where i probably could do 54 but would take ALOT longer. Train on the other hand, is like: Descent run = not too far away from wr, good run = wr, optimal run = untied wr by 2-3 seconds. The only thing that indicates is that the wr has a suprisingly bad standard(Especially for Agent wr's) and compared to other wr's on similar "Hard to max" levels it sucks.

Also, how can a record which is supposed to be "best wr" have been gotten twice, and a 1:02 gotten by Rayan with like 10 seconds of screwing up(don't remember the run exactly but it was wierd), and how can i, a not even top 10 player be extremely close to tying it, and have potential of crushing it?

Btw, 1:25 SA is way better.

I should probably play a different stage if taking a break from 358 lol, cause this level isnt any better. Ive gotten backed by that stupid drone after Xenia on all of my 51 runs lately.

I also think that it helps if you switch from gl to gl/rcp combo for ladder warp, since it seems like you get better boosts for last 2 drones that way and also i find it takes less damage. Thats another huge problem i have for 51. I always get some gay side boost, drone back, or i take way too much health for the 2nd last drone, then if i get stunned too long the last drone i tend to kill myself or i blow those barrells up since i shoot so late. And of course, when everything goes well, I will just get backed by those crate fucks anyway. and for those who will tell me to get a PAL..i already have one. it doesnt work on ntsc tvs...

Do I really have to point out that me and Bryan dont have PAL? I think 103/127/154 are damn fine for NTSC, Id love to see you get those on NTSC.

Blaming a system for a bad time doesn't really work anymore, used to do that back in the days when it was PAL that was disadvantaged, and even though the disadvantage was very much true, it wasn't a reason to have a bad time, it was a reason to buy NTSC. Tons of PAL'ers have been "forced" to buy NTSC, mostly for PD but still, i don't see why it shouldn't be the same for NTSC'ers.

And when speaking of strenght of wr's, It should be done from the optimal system's view, which in this case is PAL. And seeing NTSC'ers saying the WR is incredible is simply wrong since they haven't even played PAL.

Lastly, i just gotta ask, you really think i can't get those times on NTSC?

Honestly, I think youll struggle for those on NTSC. Like i said, Id love to see you get them.

and besides, I already said I got a PAL, but it wont work with an NTSC tv. I dont think any of you PAL people had to buy another TV, and something to plug it into, since ntsc outlets wont work with PAL plugs.

I never said 101 is great for PAL, in fact i doubt its much harder than 103 ntsc. Im just saying its ok, not like its a very outdated wr, same with 125 and 152, though 152 i guess is kinda weak on PAL maybe, though still ok.

Jungle A 0:52 again, 2 backs by Xenia and .2 stuck on nothing after the turn after Xenia.

yeah they did Clemens. They need to buy an NTSC TV so they can play in colour, and they need an NTSC VCR or DVD recorder. They also need a PAL/NTSC converter for the electrical outlet.  Oh yeah if they're using a capture card sometimes it doesn't work with NTSC VCRs and stuff.

it's your fault for being born into such a loser family that you don't have a single computer in the house.  In 2008 that's honestly hilarious.

lol I love how little you know about what you talk about. every PAL player i know plays in black and white on a PAL tv, none of them went out of their way to get a new tv, so therefor they need no power convertors. Hennings dvd recorder can record both pal and ntsc, i guess ilari had to get a different one, but most of wouters ntsc runs are black and white also, i guess in like 2005 or something he got a ntsc capture card. Youre a fucking piece of shit Ryan, and your only life will be online, since you have no social skills or ability to function without a computer.  Honestly this place would be much better if you left. All you ever do is whine when you lose a crappy wr, and make stupid comments at people because they are better than you at GE. You know me, yet I have a cool TV which has a PAL/NTSC switch, so I can play in colour. Very necessary for levels like PII (buttons).

first of all:

a) seems to me like you're the one who only has online/GE.  At least I have friends I go out with quite often, I'm still in university, I have a good job for the summer, and I have a good family.  I have plenty of social skills... I'm not sure where you're going there.  I'm very outgoing and can talk to many people...online is just one example of where you can see how many friends I have and how many people like me.  It seems like YOU'RE the one who knows little about what you're talking about.

b) in Europe, the frequency there (oh that's right, you wouldn't know what frequency is) is 50Hz.  In the Americas it is 60Hz.  Now you tell me how an NTSC system is going to work in Europe when it's only getting 50Hz while it needs 60Hz.  How is it going to work when it's only distributed 5/6ths of what it needs?  You might be right about the televisions but you're dead wrong on the power converter.

c) lol, I can't believe you just said what you said.

by the way, if you really think I have infinite free time because you always see me online, then it must be YOU with terrible time management skills.  If you had a computer at home you'd probably be on it 12 hours a day as well and still be able to do various chores around the house and go out with friends, and even when you go to work for 8 hours/day you could still be online for another 8 that day.  Think about it dude, I don't think time management skills require a good education so you're lucky, you can do it!

neither of you know much of how tvs work/eclectricity and such kind of equipment works.
here almost every tv can play ntsc input, so can almost every vcr and dvdrec. most vcrs or dvdrecs can't record it well though. so those of us with good videos went out of our way to find one that can do it, or got lucky to have one that can (I went out of my way several times). I tried an expensive converter and it didn't even work.
using a capture card you basically have to capture it live to get a good video, but then you get lag during play or you'd need a special setup or have a repeating bottom in the video.
I did have to get a converter for the power plug. some of the vcrs I had used a special cable that needed some converter too.
also, I have asked many people about how to get good ntsc video and such, people that you can assume have good knowledge but also people in stores and such.
why don't you ntsc'ers go and do that? then come back with a report of like 10 different people giving their answers.

Wouter, why do you always expect to recieve praise for "going out of your way"? If I really cared about PAL that bad, I'd blow like 400 dollars to get it to work, but its just not worth it. Sure I can spend an extra 20h on some PR for it, but imo its better to jsut stick to one system and have all 60 prs on the same file in the end anyway. Bryan did it like this from the start, and i dont see why we should be forced to go an extra mile just do we dont die. Even if I lose 1st from it, at least i know which times are NTSC wrs, so oh well. My point to Henrik is just that my times are not bad, I am not complaining that they are and i dont have pal, but simply saying that the only reason 101 isnt tied is because the other good Train players only have NTSC. If you cant take it, thats your problem. But seriously Wouter, I dont get why you still mingle around the GE boards, posting useless arguments and self praise., over and over.

And Ryan, you must suffer a serious sleep deprivation, if you are online 12h and have time for friends and what not. That leaves like 4 hours for sleep, if not less.

But really, I have officially decided to only post PRs/WRs here, and I am never going to describe anything ever again. Because every time i describe a run , or comment on something, it becomes some negative argument because you guys have problems you are taking out on the wrong people.

I'm only nasty towards people who are nasty to me. Clemens goes out of his way to tell me how much I suck at GE, when in reality anyone outside of the top 7 would love to be as good as me. The only eliters I'm mean to are Clemens, Ace, Come and alecboy, all with good reason. What goes around comes around. Stop bitching at me for standing up for myself.

There's a major difference between sticking up for yourself and dam right bullying someone. Every single time Clemens post, guarenteed the next comment is you with some snotty, belittling remark.  It's Clemens that needs to stick up for himself not you. you need leave Clemens the fuck alone and grow up !

You're a very intelligent guy and for this I envy you, but you use it to manipulate people into thinking your something your not.

I've always been kind of skeptical about NTSC/PAL. I have the NTSC N64 console but using a PAL power supply (I'm sure some of you do this aswell). The power supply on a PAL N64 says, Input: 230-240V ~ 50Hz 26W. The power supply obviously supplies power to the N64 but only at the input that it says. I don't think using a PAL power supply on an NTSC N64 is getting the full play effect since it is only getting 50Hz 230 - 240V, it should be running at 110V and 60Hz. I am thinking you need a PAL to NTSC power converter and an actual NTSC power supply so the N64 can get the required voltage. Post your thoughts on this.

"a) seems to me like you're the one who only has online/GE. "

What a bad thing to say on the internet. You look stupid.

Actually I can play both my NTSCs and PALs with the same AC adater. I have a NTSC AC too with an converter, and it works fine on both systems.

I might buy a power converter and an NTSC N64 power supply to see if would actually run faster.

I'm quite confident that the amount of resistance on the circuit which you are using to play GE affects it's lag. If you are running a fridge, a computer and a washing machine from the same powerbar as the N64, I'm almost positive you get noticeably more lag than if it's just GE and a TV directly from the wall.

Wouter, why do you always expect to recieve praise for "going out of your way"?

cuz I don't

If I really cared about PAL that bad, I'd blow like 400 dollars to get it to work, but its just not worth it.
400 dollars is what? like 40 hours of work? you've played way more than that and found it worthwhile.
Quote
Sure I can spend an extra 20h on some PR for it, but imo its better to jsut stick to one system and have all 60 prs on the same file in the end anyway.
then don't whine when you can't get the wr on the rare occasion a level is better on PAL. if you were pal and had no ntsc, you wouldn't have several of the times you do and only a few better. you'd be worse off for sure. and this is a pretty moot point on a joined rankings system.
Quote
Bryan did it like this from the start, and i dont see why we should be forced to go an extra mile just do we dont die.
everyone dies. a horrible death.
what's this? are you always dying on ntsc? how can you complete the level then?
Quote
Even if I lose 1st from it, at least i know which times are NTSC wrs
then stop comparing yourself to PAL.
Quote
My point to Henrik is just that my times are not bad, I am not complaining that they are and i dont have pal, but simply saying that the only reason 101 isnt   tied is because the other good Train players only have NTSC.
eh? first yuo tell us you have pal and now you don't. also, both players you would consider good (yourself & Bryan), BOTH HAVE PAL. if you can't find uot how to work it, it's not our problem. like I mentioned before. GO ASK AROUND FOR HELP TO MAKE IT WORK
and even then your reason for it being untied holds no ground.
Quote
If you cant take it, thats your problem. But seriously Wouter, I dont get why you still mingle around the GE boards, posting useless arguments and self   praise., over and over.
can't take what? that you don't play PAL? I'm so hurt now.
it's funny that you think I'm seeking for praise, do you praise me for what I do? what else would make you think like that?
also, there's no such thing as an useless argument, cuz then it wouldn't be an argument.
Quote
But really, I have officially decided to only post PRs/WRs here, and I am never going to describe anything ever again.
don't do that! that would be a much too kind of an act to do.

as for the power plugs.. I think it depends on the country what is useable.. the one I have can't go in our power sockets

Just curious, when i got ntsc, i bought a nice little adapter thing which you plug straight into the PAL console, and none of my TV's have ever had any problems playing it in colour(VCR on the other hand cant record properly). But anyways, does it mean that both my TV's have NTSC capability or that the adapter solves the problem? If that's the case, aren't there any similar adapters which go the other way around, i.e PAL to NTSC, that could prevent the use of additional items?

The N64 should be getting the full voltage (110/240V) and only be drawing the rated amps it should be.
