Your run was 54.78 simon?  How much does 2.3 save?  Because with a grenade boost after datathief you'd only need to save like .6 more,  And maybe you can get another guard boost, either after leaving MF room (have two gaurds in that hallway), or in the big room, just get blasted by left over guards or blow up a TV your in your face.

Appareantly 2.3 doesn't save much at all. The diffrence between my and simons "Boris starts walking for the first time" frame is 17 frames(Obviously going agent route is WAY faster in normal cases but with an open 2.3 door, its slightly faster going backwards) . I highly doubt 53 is possible considering .6 is is considerably harder to gain than you think. Simon already maxed the ending with 3 boosts(Prolly where he regains the 10 frames on my run, almost tying my run), Tv's are impossible as well etc etc.

If anyone has any new ideas for silo now is the time to post em Me and Simon are currently testing out routes trying to find out for example if 1 pause strat can be done and if it saves time.

"Btw, why do you take that route on the 54 and on the WR you take the other one? By the first door I mean."

Someone answer this!

That route is faster, but more difficult, humanly speaking.

Although I'm surprised nobody has really tried it, I mean strafing that headshot can't be THAT difficult to do somewhat consistently.

Well, if the black-hated guy reaction is shooting you, you could be backboosted before.

The route should be considerably faster(think of it this way, you open door immideadly going forward, going backwards you need to do an entire turn before being able to open it, distance to intersection after those things should be similar so the diffrence equals the time it takes to turn around, which is a bit).

You dont really need to headshot the guy either, just put 2 bullets or so in his back.

Well, if you can make this work consistently, there's no reason for not to use it. It would save what, 0.5/1 second?

Rofl, it's at the beginning of the level. I'm definitely going to start playing B1 00 with that route and hopefully get 107.

Well I'm bit dissapointed you didn't at least try for grenade boost after datatheif, I mean 54.4 would still be better than 54.88.

For silo I've talked with simon about this a bit, he insists there is no dead time what so ever before you need pause for C4.  So I would suggest doing some fast pauses right before you pause for c4 enough to make that a fast pause.  I would take like 1-2 seconds to do enough fast pauses, but then you'd save almost 2 seconds on the next 4 pauses.  So be well worth it.  Other than that just be sure to get 7-8 good boosts.  Maybe you can blow up some stuff that's in your way.

Before doing quick pauses, we are checking if skipping the second pause is a gain time.

Though for this I've to wait at one door... I may do a couple there.

Simon, you can warp some doors in Silo without them being open, Jungle style. The 2nd door after the first room (the one leading out of the round catwalk to the hallway) comes to mind. Try to see if a few more can be done like this.

Simon is like he said, working on a run skipping the second pause, i.e he cant warp any door since he's got plastiques out all the time. However, i'm doing the counterpart of the run using the normal strat with quickpauses. We'll time our progress up until leaving second room and see which strat is faster.

Warping closed doors is very interresting(Does this work on LOCKED doors?????, that'd be huge), i will certainly try to implement it in order to reduce amounts of ammo used/guards lured/lag etc.

SW, how exactly do you propose a nade boost is done after MF room?? As i can see it's impossible to execute since you cant prime it and shooting it will most likely kill ya or loose time.

Ho, Also Henrik, I got two boosts on my test tun. I guess for optimal results we should have the same ratio so :

- you try to have also two boosts

or
- we both try to don't get any boost

Choose!

Finished already? Okay :P 2 boosts is probably not gonna be a problem for me. In fact, we should probably even use identical beginnings. Up to the point where the runs differ.

Like I've said twice already:  You do some quick pauses while waiting on boris, pull the alarm at the end a second earlier before pausing for datatheif, then set up the nade boost by the MF, do your faster pause for datatheif, steal data and have nade go off for boost.

That wont work, you have to pause before opening the end door. And for it to be fully opened as you get there, you have to open it late.

I determined pausing a game might be considered cheating before the-elite was concieved so what's the point here?  I remember doing it on some older games but I can't remember which ones.  In any case it might be more skillful to play it out normally than to try a wierd way.  Yes, Agony Door Warping is feeasible because you can push yourself off the door but it's nothing like the real thing.

It's easy to do it in the comfort of your own home vs. actually going into the middle of frosy's snowland.  Not to mention unpredictable conditions the game doesn't take into account and deatails like lights shining in your eyes making it hard to see.  Still fun sometimes though even if you're unsure of the correct strategy.

To add something about the level in my DLTK I need to stand closer to the door looking like I'm trying to leave but if the level is too easy for you then does it matter how long it takes?  If Boris decides to run faster on a particluar run shouldn't he get 20 pts. of your rankings?

To be perfectly honest SW, manipulation of ending is insanely hard as it is, trying out your strat, even trying to see if it works at all, would require a tremendous amount of time and to top that with the normal 3 boost ending manipulation is completely impossible by any human who doesnt stay 24/7 at the computer and has nothing else to do. But to answer your question, i believe its still no, you wouldnt have enough time.

Anyway, i had just gotten past the quickpauses on my Silo run(and i managed to avoid the guard on stairs!) when i realized i had forgotten to alert the catwalk guard xD Me = Stupid and i'll have to redo a bit there another time. Damn this test run is taking long

Mine is going pretty well too IMO, entering 3rd room. 1 pause for the 2 first plastiques, 2 quickpauses while door opens, 5 boosts.

I still think there's enough time, mainly because of simon's 56 run where he had enough to run into the MF for over a second and the door wasn't even close to closing on him plus he had less boosts.

Okay SW, make 53 and stop there.

SO :

Silo 00A (test run) 1.10 !

I optimized the run until satelite. With a nice end 1.09 should'nt be a problem.

53 won't happen unless you can get two more guard boosts.  I think you could get 54.4 though, wasn't henrik's like barely 54.99?

My run was 54.7x, think simon had a similar decimal.

Anyway, Awesome Simon! I told ya you'd get 1:12 at least xD Yeah, i think this is almost proof that 1 pause is alot faster, but just to be sure i'll continue my test run.

Btw, now that i think of it, cant 1 pause be used on console(if it saves as much as it seems)?? Kill guard on first stairs, pause, throw plastique, next door will be opened so no prob there, only thing you gotta do is get past the next corridor without shooting, then you can run through second room like a mad man possibly avoiding alot of damage. Potential to be even easier than normal strat?? I guess Ryan already tested this considering he's tested everything in Silo, so Ryan, see any potential for the strat?

Wow, that 1:08 was the most impressive TAS ever. Opening the door to Ouro before plastique pause is faster? Thatd probably make it even easier since you dont have to worry about warping the door. Though Ouro may back you and shit a lot more.
