Okay so i'm nearing the end of frigate in my TAS and here's how the slow hostages are working out:

Using WR strat, fastests taker deaths, and optimal escape points, the first hostage escapes as i pause for tracker bug, engine guy is just a few seconds behind. I'd say these guys have a pretty fair chance of escaping on a normal run, especially considering console runs are slower(not alot slower though:P). For me, they have at least another 20 seconds to spare. Should be enough even for some secondary escape points.

I still haven't checked escape rates for agent hostages but i believe that an optimal SA strat for completion only would be to copy the 00A strat, i.e save that extra hostage in beginning, i'm not sure but he prolly have a better chance of escaping than the first agent hostage..

The hostages DO escape very often with the strat I came up with Henrik... you know I'm one of the most intelligent eliters so obviously when I come up with a Frigate strat it is going to be optimal.

It's just that 1:08 is inhumane and there's no way I can ever fail anything consistently better than 1:10. In other words, just another example of Ace ruining the game for everyone else.

I guess this means that 0:59 SA should not even be that outrageous on console.

you sure the engine hostage takes 29.25 seconds?   I'm surprised he is able to escape with like 12 seconds to spare.  This makes it seem like you could do the SA strat; however, when you think about the difference between the SA strat and the 00 strat I'm having a hard time seeing why one is much faster than the other.  Makes me wonder why SA strat is even used.

Actually now that I realize the bridge bomb is in the middle of the boat, the SA strat would save the time it takes to run across the bridge, about 2 seconds.  I think you should give it a try Henrik.  The biggest difference I see for tas is that you don't get to pause for bug after saving engine hostage, on console saving the agent hostages takes a lot of time too.  Also with the SA strat you could try to keep the defuser out for both bombs, getting boosted throught he pipes.

BUT IF YOU DO DO 3 PAUSES DO A QUICK PAUSE FIRST, SAVES ABOUT .1.

Nice S2 110 btw.

Yeah i honestly don't know what to do about the run anymore, Rice's video plugin renders water TERRIBLY, like worst ever, this doesnt only look bad, it also screws up pausing and stuff and actually interferes with the game(which video plugins aren't supposed to do), add to that that in the end i can't see shit because of the graphics and it desynchs every 5 frames. I can only think of 2 solutions for this: Somehow turn off water and hope plugin works better(unlikely), 2: Hex edit the run so it synchs with Glide64 Napalm plugin. Dunno if it's even possible and no one over at tasvideos have bothered to answer my last 5 posts or so.

I'd really like to continue this run and upload/improve frigate but it just doesn't seem possible right now.

Btw, I still have uploaded 99% of the frigate run, only getting back to boat missing so if someone could make an avi the run should still be enjoyable(just gotta take my word for that the hostages do indeed escape in time xD).

Ah that sucks, but don't let it stop you from making the TAS.  There's too much interest in it and you're doing such a good job.  What if you did you frigate with the new graphics plugin from a save state and tried to hex edit later.  Then even if you can't you'd still have all the individual levels done which is what the elite cares most about; I think making a full TAS for tasvideos would come after making the TASes for the elite if you had to choose.

But you'll probably be able to hex edit anyway once you get the help, I don't think it's too hard.  Just unhexing, pasting together, then rehexing, and making sure they fit together prefectly.

That's by far your best TAS yet Simon! Looked simply said: PERFECT. Didn't see any possible improvement at all, maximum boosts, awesome strat(Mainframe boost was genius!), RL shot works after all, etc etc.

Awesome work. I just hope it's possible to tie the time even without major cinema waiting? Did you check decimal?

Thanks guys.

What I can tell you is I first made a standard run, where I shot the box for obj A and no boost at end. I got a 43, 1-2 frames (again lol) under the 44 bar.

The rocket shot doesn't save a lot but it's still a nice bonus. The decimal of the final run is still pretty high, like 43.7-8ish. I also hope it is possible 'skipping' cinema.

First time seeing the strat you chose Henrik... I really don't think it's the best one out there. I think the 1:07 strat with your alternative basement is better. Did you test this one at all?

At least we know it's possible to get all 5 hostages out in 55 seconds

Ahh I thought you guys had failed 55 before?  Did you remember to quick pause?  And after tossing the bug, when you turned around to open the door why did you do a full 180 and change strafe?  Do you think you could get anymore boosts?  Like maybe not killing the guy on the catwalk and get boosted up stairs by him?  What was final decimal btw?

Ryan, I tried almost every strat i could think of, This strat is optimal because: You need to save 3rd slowest host before first pause, you need to save engine hostage so that he escapes within 55 seconds(actually i came to think of one thing here, you really onlu need 58'ish hostages for 56 speed run, cause of fade...), anyway, by going catwalk way you gain some time which was necessary to get this run down to 56 seconds(56.9 actually!).

I'm sure improvements are possible, but i'm not sure about 55, a whole sec needs to be saved and run was pretty good up until tracker bug at least(a little lazy TASing after that i know.) You have a good point about the 180 turn SW, i mainly did that to get a better position for door(prolly doesnt matter). And yeah i forgot quickpause, but i dunno where i would've made them? Catwalk guy is way more likely to backboost than to boost.

You would just quick pause right before your first pause, I think it would save .12.  I was thinking the catwalk guy would try and shoot you since you pause right by him, then you get boosted toward bomb by the other guard, which would make the catwalk guard run out to get a shot at you, and you'd prolly run by him right before it started to shoot again, hopefully.

Based on Henrik's Silo quickpause research that has to be wrong. And I have reason to doubt your math after your attempt at calculating Control grenade probabilities.

You do the math then and show me what's wrong.

It's really frustrating because henrik didn't quick pause on silo to save .2, so I told him like 3 times this time, even once all in caps, but he still didn't do it.

Swaff has been pretty much the lowest form of life left on the GE boards since we got rid of Boss and Clemens. There are still some chatters who give him a run for his money, but overall Swaff is the biggest, dumbest, dickhead out there.

I still love what henrik is doing, but it's frustrating when I'm trying to help him, posting the same advice 3 times, even once in all caps.  It's like screaming at your friend not to do something because he'll get hurt then it does it anyway and gets hurt.

And Ryan, you must come from a very hateful family, your just full of hate.

I'm only hateful towards you because you don't understand virtue. I can't blame you because you must have come from an uneducated family, which leads reason to believe your lower intelligence. I love everyone to be honest. If you asked me to name you someone I dislike, I would be hard pressed to do it. I just see no reason to hate... only to teach. And sometimes being a bit mean is the best way to teach.

The thing is... I don't know how others feel about TAS, but for me the fun of watching the TAS vids is not the final time (except in cases like arch 15), but instead the crazy accuracy, luck "manipulation", and some of the strats. I understand that if I actually did TASes I would start to care about the final time, too. But for now I couldn't care less how many quick pauses are used, to be honest.
