There's also the possibility of running a bit away from the corner and then turn on first frame possible, creating the same effect that bicyclers use. I'm not entirely sure which is faster but i think the normal method i first mentioned is fastest(or equal).

Defection SA 0:40 (no glitch). I also uploaded a Tranquilizer Gold 5.37 which I made a year ago.

Hahah, that tranquilizer was awesome. Pretty cool defection run too, the details could do some work but it was entertaining at least which is good.

Hm, what details? I thought it was almost perfect

I'm not as good at TASing as you though. Do you think it would be possible to get 39 on this level? I TASed this mostly with a controller and 35% slow motion, because using frame advance takes so much time.

I guess i was refering to things like perfect strafing and the stuckages in a few spots, for slow-mo only though it's pretty good.

Just me dicking around with the new Aztec strat and lots of tricks. End time is nothing special. Three things of note:

-If you follow the exact path through the drone gun room as used in this vid (and my previous TAS of this stage) you will not get hit, because of how the drone guns track your movement. Might be useful for console players low on life at the end of a killer run. Plus, you won't get stuck on the glass this way, it'll always get destroyed in time.

-Guards behave abnormally when you're not "looking" at them. It seems like you can increase the chances of the glass being opened by looking at the MF door, and then immediately looking down once you hear it finish opening. I do this with a pause in this run, and for the curious if I did not pause at that exact moment the glass would not have been opened.

-Also, it seems like I got the glass door open with only one guard. It's hard to see exactly since I run right by them, but the other guard actually knew where I was, and was on the way to my hiding place. Not positive how this worked out, maybe it has something to do with my previous point.

Anyway, enjoy.

Lol, I think that little shooting spree after inserting the tape might be good for console players low on life.

Wow, you used the new glass strat lol. But why did it take so long for the guard to go to the glass..cant it be done faster? Cool run though, perhaps the glass strat is doable on SA/00A after all, just felt impossible to me since I played SA like 10 hours and it never opened

Cool run, Jack. How do you move your gun around and shoot without looking into a different direction? Like you do on 0:24 for example. It seems like you're using the R to aim but maybe because you're pressing it for such a short time, it doesn't stop your character from moving. An .m64 and save state would always be good to have. Does anyone know some place where small files like that can be uploaded for free so that they don't get deleted after a few of months?

"Also, it seems like I got the glass door open with only one guard."

If you only need one guard to open it, shouldn't it then be possible to do an even faster glass strat, by only luring the guy behind the mainframe by shooting through it?

I don't speedrun this game so I'm probably not so good at noticing stuckages. Could you/someone show me a few stuckages in the run, so that I understand how it can be improved?

Well that has been tried, still noone has really been able to get it to open like that, I still would like to see the glass be opened like that to see if it really is possible by just luring that guard behind the mf by shoothing trough close to him.

"It seems like you're using the R to aim but maybe because you're pressing it for such a short time, it doesn't stop your character from moving."

That's exactly it- if you only have it pressed for the frame you fire, that's only a brief time in which forward isn't pressed (you can still strafe in 2.3/2.4) and it's not enough for you to begin deaccellerating; unless you're not at top speed prior to doing so; or lag in the framerate causes you to not press forward for 5 or more frames in a row. I'm pretty sure the full run Henrik and Simon are making takes advantage of this as well (but maybe not to the ridiculous excess I used it here)

"I still would like to see the glass be opened like that to see if it really is possible by just luring that guard behind the mf by shoothing trough close to him."

While this is a neat idea, it's been tried in TAS before and I'm fairly certain it doesn't work because the guard doesn't actually see you at the glass. Still if this can be done with one guard it's worth another try by someone with more patience/free time; failing that just closing the door immediately while getting his attention oughtta do the trick.

Eh, it's been known forever that 1 guard can open the glass if another is lured close by. The problem is luring 1 and only 1 to the glass area at all seems impossible to get the glass open. Get it open without luring any other guards and we'll talk.

I have a question about TAS'es. Now lets say you have saved the game on a particular spot right before you get pass some guards you want to manipulate. Are they going to do different moves every time if you rewind, play again, rewind, play again...

If you do something even slightly different, they might do something different, but if you rewind it and do everything exactly the same, the guards will behave the same every time.

EVERYONE have thought of this before, just no one has pulled it off before.

But seriously, this can't be done on console right? I'm fairly certain this is the same shit as B2 and AF1, emulators lag more than consoles and therefor warping is easier/possible.

Nice find though simon, it'll be a neat timesaver for the full run!

I don't see any way to get things like that possible, even on emulator. Just made that because I though the run would look pretty cool.

Meh... it was fake? It was faked pretty good though. I guess the DAT not showing up proves that it was fake, otherwise I would have had to ask for proof.

By the way, here's a tool-assisted multiplayer round I did a while ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nlK2Bvjino

Watch out for player 2, he's pretty good. I thought it would have been incredibly complex to do a 4 player TAS, but it was easier than I thought.

Quote from: Lovins

Probably. I think most of his TASes are fake. That's why he never posts the m64s, like for his Dam Agent 52... ok, I'm joking !!, I doubt/hope he hasn't more fakes than this one.

You could upload all your Goldeneye TASes in a zip archive. I want to check what decimals you have too, since you usually don't post them.
