train agent 103 (jap pr)

Badly choked one of the corner locks and blew 101. Jap is a lot better than normal ntsc on train I'm sure... the guards are still gay as ever but you get a better laser, so less stucks/more consistent brakes.

Don't really remember the run, i think the start was good but some stucks before the last brake and had to do last brake the safe way, then kinda lost time killing those 2 guards and locks were a second or so worse than my 100 at least. I realized waiting the 2nd cinema consistently reduces lag at the locks since you kill so many guards in the 4th car. You can plow through them quickly on Jap it seems, so 101/100 is pretty reasonable on jap, 59 would be insane.

Aren't there like only 5-6 spots for the flight recorder though? So 1/5 would seem pretty normal odds to me, also when I got 221 I had never failed that low before, same with 220, so to me the odds for the flight recorder are like pretty decent anyway, at least compared to lots of other stuff that you need to deal with in this game.

odds are DEFINITELY LESS than 1/5 or 1/6. i have been playing Statue a lot in the last few days and can get a Trev shot about 1/3 and the flight recorder won't show up for hours... but you're right, there are only like 5 spots so you would THINK that it would at least be there 1/7 times or better, but it isn't

I don't think you can use odds for GE tbh. Look at Facility. Theres 7 places for Doak to be, but yet i've had like 50 53 pace runs in a row where he wasnt there before prolly. It's a bunch of random bullshit, and it just depends on when the game feels like giving you something. I'm sure if Monteith kept playing Statue and got to 219 skill level he would hit a dry streak eventually. It's just the way the game works. When you don't need the luck as much, you get more luck, and when you really want it, you almost never get it.

I fully agree with what YE said (especially about holding Z not affecting the outcome) in the other topic too but that doesn't mean I disagree with what Clemens said here. From my understanding, most of the time the outcomes of the RNG aren't equally probable meaning the FR odds don't HAVE to be 1/5 just because there's 5 possible FR spots. It usually varies from 1/3 to 1/10 or something like that. I almost always see someone getting really lucky or unlucky with a level, not somewhere in between.

GE seeds a random number between 0-255 and depending on what interval it lands in, diffrent outcomes are selected. So it's possible that some luck factors have diffrently sized intervals and therefor odds might not be equal. I don't really remember if this is the case or not though. Been a while since i went through GE's scripts.

It might not be that simple though, GE has 2 RNG's running in parallell and locking only 1 of those to a static value doesn't guarantee the outcome of for example guards pulling nades, both need to be locked for a 100% chance. So at least i know for a fact that guards animations in some way depends on both RNG's. Probably the case with all other luck factors too.

lol Dam SA is horrible on Jap. PP7 is almost always slow. 117 jap is like 117 pal probably, except the gate is easier to get fast on Jap compared to PAL so maybe that makes a big difference.

Alex - 148, twice. Second run was much better than the first, so somewhat low decimal.

Dave - NTSC > NTSC-J > PAL. Yes, the gate is harder on PAL and on the top of that, the part from the lock gate to the end is still smoother on JAP than PAL.

This was just before I achieved 2:11, like the run before.

Streets Secret Agent 2:15. It was one second higher than my then PR of 2:14.

I felt I could've done a better job of strafing Valentine and my health was running low, so I got body armor.

I think, depending on how my health is, I will skip the body armor in an attempt to lower 2:11.

Illu, if you have a jap cart use that and get the BA in the second fuel room, you lose like 1.5 seconds getting it but you can get like 135 every run since you don't have to worry about living. Like 131-133 is cake with it and even 129 or 128 isn't that bad. It makes the level much more fun too. I'm guessing you don't have a jap cart though since you probably already know this, so i guess this was a useless post. :P
