The problem with that rta strat is that running by the consoles the guard can still blow them up so im not sure if it is more consistent. plus the mine throw is riskier. But I think that strat can get 1:30 on 00 but you need to hope for a super lucky end lol
The strat is not faster, only if you do catwalk-only strat (which I messed around with a long time ago, and there are a few reasons for why it's unviable / slower - mainly the 2nd set of scientists and consoles).
The mine throw is indeed a problem. Full-strafe throwing it full down some times makes that bitch console not to blow up. And if you C-up it there's a chance the mine bounces. Although I have a theory that might make they work more often if you throw it correctly.
I messed around a bit more to see how this strat works, and I think I got it. You throw the mine in that "good spot", and when you go to the scientist, HUG HIM FOR A BIT, don't just touch him and run. You have to give him time to make sure he starts the hands-up animation. Then you shoot and leave. Not only the timing will be perfect so he runs away from explosion, and it cools down when he's running up the stairs, but I think it might give the ideal animation lag scenario so the mine explosion works properly. That is more of a myth for now, but certain "good position mines" weren't working when I was trying to rush everything. They did when I took my time to hug the scientist for a bit.
And, surprisingly, I'm getting way less "guard shooting the console" scenarios. I'm not sure if I got one of those cases at all to be honest. He just doesn't blow up the console when he shoots at me while I'm there for some reason. When I'm walking away he either shoots away (if he didn't shoot me before) or draws his gun back (if he shot me).
Even with a chance of A failing, I think I'll use this strat in runs as I get better at it, just because the 2 other lure types don't work so much for me >_<
