Great job Illu.  Way to help with the 19:59 Agent barrier.  I think this will get broken this summer too, and 1:32 is probably the best non-train WR in boss' eyes anyways :)

Good job Clem too ;)

This is a bit off topic but i just used the Goldeneye Setup Editor to check how the hostages on frigate works, hopefully someone will find it interresting :P

Nothing helpful in this really but i'll write it anyways.

1: When a hostage is released, the game will randomly choose between a few destinations to jog to.
2: When he has arrived at  the destination, the game checks "if he is within firing range"(i have no idea what this means exactly).

3(He was within firing range): Choose a new destination and do the whole thing over.

3(He was not within firing range): Escape.

So well, there's nothing we can do about the destinations obviously, but the firing range thing could be useful if we figure out what it means, cause if we are always outside firing range = They will always escape when arrived at random destination :D

Or at least i hope so :P

Edit: Okay so appareantly within firing range means if bond can see them(not sure if this goes through walls too but i don't think so). So basicly, just don't look at the hostages? not really helpful i guess...

#THE GUARDKILL TRIGGERS THE LOOPS, WHICH SELECTS THE PATHS FOR THE HOSTAGES

61FD Kill Guard #  61 (FD)0200 Resume If Return Value Loop Met         33 Seed Random Byte         [                PLACES TO RUN        ]

#ESCAPE MESSAGE/HOSTAGE ESCAPE

022E Resume If Return Value Loop Met         3C0C If Guard Within Firing Range, Return Value Loop         C3340A Display Text Preset  - Hostage escaped!*000D Return Value Loop

#LOOP FOR HOSTAGES/IF Guard Within Firing Range = 0?

020B Resume If Return Value Loop Met         03 Leave The Routine, But When Return Continue From Spot 010B Go To Beginning, Then Return Value Loop

I can't seem to find any information regarding the action: 3C (Guard Within Firing Range).
You can also with the editor look into visualization. The paths are marked out with boxes and lines (Although I think that is lines for the guards, cause those lines for the hostages doesnt fit well.)
Hostages "boxes" in visualization is blue.

EDIT: Interesting read tho. I might be willing to look deeper into it.

I have to say, no one thought you were top 10 potential or even were going to improve as much as you did.
Way to prove everyone wrong, Glen.

Congrats on your recent WR's.

me and boss had a discussion back in July 2006 about how Glen could get top 5 or so because of how his aztec times were all 95 pointers or something.

Actually I disagree with all the top 3 talk.  How many people have untied more than 5 WRs on different stages this year?  How many people have untied sweeps?  If you watch something like Aztec 132, Control 413 or Silo 110, there's no doubting who are currently the top 3 players in Goldeneye right now.

You also need to think about how Illu and I haven't been playing for points very much lately, and more for untieds.  We could be much closer to boss than we currently are if it were not for what we are playing.

The only other guy I say has true top 3 potential is ace, because every level he plays he can own like its his own.

I mean sure all of the top 10 could get to the podium if they worked hard enough but right now I dont see anyone other than ace doing it.

Id say right now the top 9 + Clemens are the top 10 GE players, with Henrik, mouser and guiga possibly in there too.  Best top 10 ever indeed, but top 3 is way different.

I definately don't fit in the top 10 anymore, i did a few years ago but all those coming talents are way better than me.

Though i think i'll be able to keep my top 10 time ranking for a bit longer :b

And I think its amusing how ace makes his wr posts, like he could give 2 shits since they were so cakey.

Is this classic game better than anything new that's ever going to be made?  If we're still doing this when our hair turns gray then we should start counting the miliseconds to see whose absolute best like they do in bike racing.  Otherwise there's going to be too many ties for the younguns rising up.

Also in facility I noticed someone stand between the tanks with the remote mines.  If you get a good Trev and Doak, can't you throw the mines from far away while running straight for the door to detonate them without placing them with the guards chasing you, you have a better opportunity to obtain a boost with a backshot.  But Trev talking might interfere too.

you need to wait until trev is done talking so speed doesnt matter at that point

if you use AIM talk to me, RyanWhiteGoose and I can answer all your noob questions so you dont need to post embarassing stuff on the boards.
