I was just referring to how Dave always thought Caverns 1:03 would be tough for him to get.

But yeah, Caverns is prolly next on the list after Bunker. ;)

Caverns can only be hard for someone who has a few WRs already because it's not motivating enough to play for a WR that many has tied already, but for pts it's worth it still.

I thought 1:03 was going to be a lot harder simply because I do not do well in levels that require GUARD LUCK. Streets, Caverns agent, those levels require the most guard luck and i struggle on them. I played 7 hours for the 00 1:56 and temporarily gave up because i was getting the worst guard luck ever, and 1:14 took me an eternity back in my n00b days. 1:03, I realized that good strafing goes a long way there, so once i improved my strafing it was only a matter of time before i had a +2 ratio or so.

But yeah, you should get s1 103 next eddie, may as well since I will be getting 1:02 shortly :p .

yeah i might be wrong, but i think Dave knows more than about 92% of people here. calling him a n00b now is just random. good job on that 1:03 :p  and yeah, once you get good at the strafe lines its very simple.

good job to the ridiculous bunch by Landfredi and Ace too.

its been 4 weeks since i picked up the controller, and i don't feel like playing yet. i better stop posting until i pull a 49 for my 1k post. >D

For sure he's amongst the top players in knowledge (I just wouldn't say in the 90s if you wanna put it that way), but he's still got a lot to learn.

He's not even top 20 or 30 yet. :p

Clemens is top 10 in my mind.  He has too many WRs not to be a top 10 player.  Once he cares about the other levels, a top 10 will happen and probably top 5 if he sticks to it.

weeeeeeeeeee, now what do I do next :/

I suppose streets SA/OOa are pretty cake looking, I got 1:57 with little trouble after about 20 mins.  Looks like a lot of luck (what a surprise).  I'll try it out, and assume get 1:55's randomly, that's my guess.

Theres no way that run was 16.75. Looked like 16.95 at the lowest. No  boosts and nothing very insane either. Actually am surprised that  was even 16 lol.

I have recorded and timed probably around 50 archives agent runs, checking the consistency as best I can, and I've had some failed 16's at 16.95, as well as some rounded up 16.85's.  Perfect Dark has "round ups" so why wouldn't goldeneye?  Just b/c it doesn't have an in-game timer doesn't mean it doesn't have that same effect.

I'm glad you can "eye" my run at 16.95 at best.  You're probably right, it was probably 17.5 rounded down, maybe GE works opposite of PD.

There's so many small things that can make a GE run look "nothing special" and still be a record.  My example would be Bryan's runs.  Some of you might remember him getting mad at people telling him his runs were bad, and he explained his views on the "small things".  Same thing goes here.  Why do you think my depot A was 26 but looked bad?  Little things can make all the difference.  I'd go by a computer recorded frame by frame saying 16.75 over you saying 16.95.......just my preference I guess.

Computers can drop frames when capturing.

ALso, how do you know the timer starts and stops exactly? based on fade in and out, the timer could run even after there are no frames visible. besides that run looked like a .9 like clemens said.

imo if you can't name the 'small things' by their names, they're just like an imaginary friend, except those usually are referred to by a name :p

you're right Wouter.  I was thinking of trying to explain some of the "imaginary friends" err......."small things" ;)  in some post eventually, once I figure out what they are again.  Either way, thanks for the support on my amazing untied....err....massively tied record.  Also, 16 Archives agent is no walk in the park, I think many, including bossman would agree that it is quite a tough record.  My guess is that since it is such a short level, more runs can be played in a shorter amount of time, which probably appeals to most players.

also "I have recorded and timed probably around 50 archives agent runs, checking the consistency as best I can..."

That also includes intense timing on when the run starts and ends, although you're right that recording drops frames, but I control that variable, but also recording 30 frames per second helps lessen the effect that has.

I'm sorta guessing that no one else is as OCD as I am at tweaking miliseconds off runs, so go ahead and do some tests yourself if you don't believe me :)   It'd be nice to get a comparison, but it does take a lot of work to do.

I have 30 + hours of experience on archives agent, I know when a 16 is a 16. I am saying with 100% confidence your run was barely 16, probly 16.98 or something.

- strafed into railing after natalyas door
- slow glass
- no boost
- not the best first room ive seen

It was not 16.75.

I had 2 15 second quits at the double door after opening natalyas door, those were imo 16.75 pace. Had a boost and pretty good runs. Ive only had 2 in my entire life on archives agent and ive had a lot more 16 pace runs than this.

I just find it funny how people dupe a time like 17 over and over and over and then suddenly they jump .25, and without a boost. Do you honestly believe the run was just that good? I dont. The difference bwteen 16 and 17 could be within .02. For all we know 90% of 17's could be 16.99 rounded up.

Yea, haha I'm glad you didn't take it too seriously. :p

17 for me came so easily, so I was tempted to go for 16. But based on how difficult everyone is saying it is, I became discouraged.

Jumping from 17 to 16 is a huge leap.

And yes, .1 is a long time on a level like that. Although honestly i can bust out a 16 every 30 minutes now, its very cakey for me now. going for 55's makes 16 incredibly easier. 16 is a harder time, but the practice really helps.
